The mongolian yurt furniture is adapted to the nomadic way of life in a yurt. Wood for the furniture can not be found on the treeless steppes and must be obtained by trade.
Traditional mongolian yurt furniture elements are beds, storage boxes (avdar), table, stools, cupboard and a drawer.
Mongolia a landlocked country in East and Central Asia and the most sparsely populated independent country in the world with a population of around 2.75 million people. Much of the country is covered by steppes. Approximately 30% of the population is nomadic or semi-nomadic. The predominant religion in Mongolia is Tibetan Buddhism.
